"Installing IBIS Rates Modelling System at Wellington City Council has paid big dividends in the first year"

I refer to our recent implementation of the Ibis Rate Modelling Solution and am happy to provide positive feedback that we have found the solution to be very beneficial. …

We have found the solution to be very beneficial to us in providing ready access to multiple different rating scenarios.

With regard to the setup and training, I would like to commend your Systems Implementation & Support Consultant. All staff involved with the training were comfortable with the configuration parameters required to run different modelling scenarios.

Since the completion of the training, Council staff have used the modelling solution on their own and have been able to prepare models with the knowledge gained in the implementation training. If any questions have arisen, these have been referred to Ibis and have been answered in a prompt and efficient manner.

Installing IBIS rates modelling system at Wellington City Council has paid big dividends in the first year. We have used it initially for data cleansing and to better understand our ratepayer base, rating sectors, valuations and how our rating policy impacts on ratepayers. Using near real-time data from our rating system, combined with the flexibility (number of functions) for rates modelling provided accurate results, very efficiently.

We have recently been assisted by your Systems Implementation & Support Consultant to help us model the potential impacts of regional amalgamation, after the IBIS team consolidated the Wellington region's councils rating information databases, all within an unreasonably short deadline. It was an intensive exercise which required a high level of accuracy, and was made very easy by his expertise of the system and broader knowledge of similar exercises and scenarios throughout Australasia.

Working in conjunction with Ibis Information Systems to develop a new regional revenue strategy. Reconciling and balancing of the data from the eight individual core property systems was achieved by the process. Once in the Ibis system, Council personnel were able to see variations between former Councils and then run as many different rate models and scenarios as needed, for the combined Council – modelling and analysis in a single tool. Throughout the process, Ibis consultants helped ensure critical timelines were met.

The Ibis Rate Modelling Solution proved an invaluable tool during the four workshops we undertook with our Mayor, Councillors and senior staff. With the ability to modify models “only the fly”, Councillors questions were answered in mere minutes. Exception based report also helped make the process much more “palatable”.
